New Frontiers in Counselling & Psychotherapy
New technologies will play a significant role in the practice of client-centred counselling and psychotherapy in the future. Practitioners and clients need to keep up-to-date on these new applications and methodologies. Here are some of the exciting new approaches being introduced to my practice in 2026"
Research Matters
Why Research Matters
Research is a fundamental part of my practice because it enhances my knowledge as a therapist. More importantly, research provides an evidence base for the range of therapies I provide, which benefits my clients and improves therapeutic outcomes. Therefore, be assured that the tools I use to monitor and record each client's progress are based on proven research and designed to meet the unique needs of each client.
Introducing Virtual Reality Meditation in 2026
IVRM (Immersive virtual reality meditation) is one example of many technologically-based healthcare interventions available today. The results of a recent longitudinal study have found that IVRM interventions improve emotional regulation and decrease anxiety and depression (Lee et al., 2025).
In 2026, I will introduce IVRM as part of my Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) interventions for suitable clients presenting with anxiety, depression, and panic attacks on a case-by-case basis. Clients will be carefully monitored to determine its effectiveness on emotional regulation. IVRM will initially be only available for clients attending in-person counselling.
